Trave information!

Hey Yall, this is Devon
I just wanted to let you guys know about the exciting things that have been happening. First though I want to apologise for not posting the last few weeks, after I had my wisdom teeth taken out, half a week later I found out that I had a ear infection that was putting pressure in my jaw by my teeth... So I was not feeling well. Any way onto my news, a couple of days ago I recived my passport in the mail! I am so happy that it came in time. Though I do not like the picture.. we had to re take it when I was sick and I looked like crap lol. And today in the mail I got the info on what countries I will be flying to :D I am so excited! Ok this is what was said in my info packet thing today.

" July 31/British airways 294/Depart Chicago at 8:00 pm Aug 1/arrive in London 9:35 am Aug 1/British Airways 862/Depart London at 11:00 am Aug 1/arrive in Budapest at 2:30 pm". and from Budapest we will be taking a 6 hour bus ride to our actual destination, Beuis. After reading the travel itenerary I think that will be a long couple of days.. but fun! I am still working on raising funds for the trip, but thanks to several members of HT and many of my friends I was able to meet the first deposit, and get other necessary things for my trip. I still need $2,260 by june 30th... but I have started to recieve graduation gifts so I will be able to put $85.00 in my account on monday ! Thank you all for your prayes and support it means so much to me ! Devon

Awesome news !

Hey guys ,
this is Devon, I wanted to update everybody as to what has been happening in my life these past couple of weeks .
On Monday I had my wisdom teeth cut out (not very fun!) and now three days later I am swollen and look like a chipmunk lol. But praise God I think I could feel worse . Anyway when I checked mail this morning CIY had sent me a statement saying that two people has donated a total of $220.00 ! towards my trip, and then a letter had come for mom but when she opened it it was a $200.00 check for my trip.
So I now have made the first money hurdle of $500.00 with $40.00 extra! I am just so excited . I know that I need a job so that I can help raise the rest but now I can concentrate on getting UN-swollen thanks to some very generous members of Homesteading Today , My home school co-op and very close family friends !
thank you all

Welcome

Hi, and welcome to my blog. This is all about a mission trip that I have been allowed to sign up for, and the fundraising efforts to get me there. The trip is to Romania. We will be leaving July 30, and returning on August 14th. I am so excited to get to go, and I am learning so many new things even now, before I have even left. The first thing that comes to mind is that I am learning patience. The cost for going on this trip is $2,800 and I am going to be fundraising most of that. As of today I have $170 of that. I am so blessed to see how many other people really want to help and support missionaries.

I feel that God is calling me to be one of those missionaries. Specifically to work with the orphans in Romania. So, when I saw this trip being sponsored by CIY (www.ciy.com) I was just thrilled. Our team will be hosting a Vacation Bible School (VBS) while there, working in an orphanage, visiting gypsy camps, working in a coffee house and participating in Agape runs.

Romania seems so very far away. And I don't mean just geographically. The culture is very different. The people have been taught to relate to their children in a way that is very different than here in the U.S. Not only children are treated differently, but other cultures such as the gypsies (or Roms) are too. I am writing a research paper for one of my classes and as I do research I will share some of my findings with you.

Since you are here, you have probably been given a support letter by me, or my mom. Yay mom, she is rather bold about asking people to help me. (yes, this is mom typing this for Devon. *grin*) So, you may be asking yourself what you can do to help me to help the people that I am going to serve this summer. You can pray. Please pray for guidance, financial support and that God would use me for His glory. You can support me financially, by sending a donation to CIY in my name. And you can tell others about this mission trip and how they can help us help God's people. What ever you feel led to do, thank you so much in advance. Every little bit helps, and prayers are of course, so very very important. Thanks again for reading my blog, come back as often as you can. We are trying to figure out how to upload a ticker so you can follow my progress in fundraising, and I will be adding pictures and lots of information as we go. God Bless you!
